Math Department

Welcome to the Sam Brannan Math Department. This page will help you get information about our math program and other math related activities.

Student Placement:

Students are placed in the appropriate math class using SALT Test scores, the Algebra Readiness Test, grades, and teacher recommendations.

7th Grade classes and texts:

• 7th Grade Math - Saxon 76
• Pre-Algebra - Saxon 87
• 7th Grade Algebra - Addison Wesley Algebra

8th Grade classes and texts:

• Math 8 - Saxon 87
• Algebra 101-102 - McDougal Littell, Algebra 1
• Algebra I - Addison Wesley, Algebra
• Geometry - McDougal Littell Geometry

High School Program:

Many of our students are admitted each year to the Advanced Geometry course at John F. Kennedy High School. We are the primary feeder school for the program there which offers students two years of Advanced Placement Calculus before graduating from high school.

Mathlete Team:

Our winning Mathlete Team program gives students an opportunity to compete against other schools.

Math Lab:

We offer free after school tutoring in our Math Lab, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45 to 3:30 in the Library. Tutoring is done by Math Department teachers.
