Welcome to Introductory Spanish!
Students develop LISTENING, SPEAKING, as well as some READING and WRITING skills in this one quarter class. An additional goal is to develop an appreciation of the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
The focus of the class is on messages being communicated rather than on working with grammatical structures. Students will have the opportunity to interact in Spanish among themselves and with the teacher. They will be encouraged and motivated to develop fluency in Spanish using the real-world language of people throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Students will be focusing on what they understand, and learn to guess at the meaning of unfamiliar words.
