Academic Talent Search

Sponsored by C.S.U.S.

Sam Brannan annually participates in the Academic Talent Search (ATS) program sponsored by California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). This program seeks to identify exceptional academic talent in sixth through ninth grade students and to provide opportunities to develop that talent through challenging classes offered during the summer.

Students who are earning good grades and are highly motivated should think about taking the SCAT (School and College Abilities Test). Once students take the SCAT, they are eligible to take ATS-sponsored summer school classes at CSUS. In addition to offering the traditional clases in math, English, science and foreign languages, non-traditional classes in communication studies, social sciences and personal development are available. Courses are available for all score levels. Even if students decide that they do not want to attend the summer school classes, motivated students may want to take the SCAT as a beneficial experience.
